Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on August 6 at DC’s conference hall under the chairmanship of DPDB chairman and deputy speaker, Nagaland Legislative Assembly, Ralanthung Yanthan.
Medical superintendent submitted the list of the shortages of both manpower and technical equipment for non-functioning of an Accident Trauma Centre at Dr. Motsü Memorial Civil Hospital at Wokha.
The house agreed to put forward the requirement to the authority in order to avail services of a trauma centre at Wokha on priority. It was also learnt that an amount of Rs. 3 to 4 crores each was to be availed for establishment of Regional Diagnostic Centre (RDC) at Wokha.
According to an official bulletin, the board accepted to put forward proposals for grant-in-aid to seven schools under Wokha district as submitted by DIS Bhandari. Further the board agreed to recommend for recognition of a new school at Longtsiri village.
DPDB Chairman Ralanthung Yanthan informed the members that all four elected representatives from Wokha had agreed to contribute Rs. 10 lakhs each to the common pool for construction of a Lotha Tribal Council Hall in Wokha town. He further said Lotha Tribal Council was recognised in the past during British Rule and therefore it is a historic as well as prestigious council.
On the status of Wokha-Merapani road the EE (R&B) informed the house that the work was progressing well. However grade III metalling was still needed for further improvement of the road. Officials of NST department informed the house that construction of an NST Booking Centre at Sungro was completed. The officials of Transport and Fisheries departments were requested to give power point presentation in the next DPDB meeting.
Besides others, the meeting was attended by Parliamentary Secretary for Prisons, Home Guards, Fire & Emergency Services Wochumo Kithan besides government officials from various departments at Wokha.
