Material distribution on August 10 KOHIMA: Assessment camp of physically handicapped -cum -distribution of materials for the disabled will be held on August 10 starting 11 am at DWO’s office Bayavu Hill, Kohima. The District Welfare Officer (DWO), Kohima, K Atoli informed all disabled persons who have attended the first assessment camp on February 19 to attend the programme and the second assessment camp for physically handicapped will also be held on the same day. Nominations for district award DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner, Mokokchung, C.M.Tsanglao has notified all head of departments in the district to submit recommendations of gazetted Officers/non-gazetted officials of their respective departments, which is to be examined for consideration by the district level committee for the district awards to be awarded on August 15. An official bulletin informed that recommendations, if any should be submitted to office of the deputy commissioner, Mokokchung on or before August 11. Naga Hoho Federal Assembly DIMAPUR: Naga Hoho Federal Assembly, speaker, HK Zhimomi has informed all federating units of the Naga Hoho that the Naga Hoho Federal Assembly would be held on September 2 at 10am at Kohima to discuss on the proposed Naga Common Platform (NCP) and others if any from the federating units. The release stated that the venue of the assembly would be intimated later, and also informed that agenda(s) if any should be submitted one week ahead of the assembly for the consideration of the Hoho executive council. Independent Party members join NCP DIMAPUR: Altogether 143 households under the leadership of 8 GBs and 8 VCMs from Independent Party, Bhunmyu village under 50th A/C Longleng resolved to join the NCP under the leadership of S. Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary for RD & REPA. A. Angai Phom, general secretary NCP, Longleng division stated that the move was made during a party meeting held on July 14. WSBAK seminar DIMAPUR: Women department of Western Sümi Baptist Akukuhou Küqhakulu(WSBAK) will be conducting an area women seminar at Nihoku Baptist church under the theme ‘Dynamic Women’ (Totimi shitsa) from August 13-14 commencing at 10 am. The seminar will discuss ‘Women and health’, Women and home’ and ‘Women in society and church’. According to a press note issued by WSBAK Easter H Shohe, the guest resource person will be Dr. Kheshito Zhimo senior specialist, Civil hospital, Dimapur while Inno N. Kughaho Achumi, ranger, Nuiland will exhort the gathering. The release invited all women of Nihokhu area for a spiritually and socially enriching seminar. NCRC Dimapur area youth service DIMAPUR: NCRC Dimapur area youth combine service will be held on August 8 at 3:30 pm at ACRC Burma Camp under the theme ‘Pressing on towards the goal’. According to a press release by Yarang, the speaker will be Rev. Vangpong, gen.sec. NCRC, worship will be by Zhau Sanchu, director, Power Praise Centre. The release asked for all to come and be a part of this programme. Directives for parking, repairing vehicles DIMAPUR: Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Bei-u Angami has reminded all workshop owners within Kohima town that parking and repairing of vehicles on Government road has been restricted. Henceforth, failure to comply would entail immediate arrest of the workshop mechanics, imposition of fines on its owners, and all other actions deemed fit and necessary without any further warning/notice. Longchang area on retention of EAC Hq KOHIMA: Five villages namely Longchang town, Longchang village, Sowa, Sowa Chnagle and Mohung under Longchang area and four villages under – Angjangyang, Angphang, Changlang and Jakphang as well Konyak Union (KU), Konyak Students Union (KSU) and KNSK submitted a memorandum to the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio on November 13 regarding the retention of the 25 year old EAC Hq at Longchang ,which was upgraded to SDO (C) and shifted to Angjangyang. In a release Esak Hessum ex-candidate and P. E. Pangteang VCC Convener recalled the chief minister Neiphiu Rio’s, speech on the inauguration day (November 13, 2008) at Angjangyang, where Rio promised to look into the matter and made it clear that DAN government will never neglect the particular issue and retention of EAC Hq will be done at the earliest. The releases also said that village councils/ union / NGOs drew the attention of the state chief minister Neiphiu Rio and his government to do the needful as committed at the earliest and declare the retention of the EAC Hq at Longchang town. NPF 31 A/C expels general secretary DIMAPUR: Naga People’s Front (NPF) 31 A/C Akuluto unit office bearers and senior leaders held an emergency meeting on August 4 in connection with the recent situation in the party where Kakiye Chishi, general secretary NPF 31 A/C Akuluto misused the party official pad. According to a press release issued by Acca Kiba, new general secretary NPF 31 A/C Akuluto, the party officials terming the act as immature and irresponsible has decided to take disciplinary action against Kakiye and as per the norms and party’s code of conduct has expelled Kakiye from both the active and primary membership of the party. Meanwhile has informed that Acca Kiba and Ahoto Chishi have been elected as new general secretary and unit representative respectively of NPF 31 A/C Akuluto. Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur DIMAPUR: Konyak Students’ Union Dimapur (KSUD) has reminded all Class-XI students’ to be present at the meeting on August 8 at 11:30 am at Konyak Baptist Church Dimapur (Midland). Union informed that members will be penalized with a fine of Rs. 100/- to be deducted from their scholarship next year. Further, its 20th freshers’ meet will be held on September 12.
