Association of Power Engineer clarifies

In connection with the July 22 incident at Mon where power supply was cut-off during the Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) conference, Association of Power Engineers’ Nagaland has clarified that the power supply to Mon district was affected due to a technical snag in the 66 KV transmission line from Tuli to Naganimora on the morning of July 20 which lead to the total disruption of power supply to the district. Informing this in a press release, association general secretary Er Tiameren Walling stated that technical staff of transmission division stationed at Mokokchung immediately swung into action for line checking and rectification of the line. The association disclosed that the fault could be located and rectified only on the evening of July 22 near Anaki village where one of the insulators was found punctured “probably due to lightning”. Terming the incident as unfortunate which happened during the ENSF conference, the association further expressed regret. Association also clarified that the incident which happened was beyond the control of the engineers and staff of the department and not as alleged. The association condemned the action of the unruly mob who harassed and intimated the officers and destroyed office properties.
