District authorities of Imphal east and west relaxed the curfew for seven hours on Saturday as situation seemed to be returning to normal with no untoward incident reported during the curfew relaxation hours. However, there were reports of police foiling sit-in protest organized at various places against the killing of people in fake encounters and demanding for resignation of chief minister, O Ibobi Singh. Tinsid road which remained closed by protestors for the last six days opened on Saturday for normal traffic. The inter-district road in Imphal east where the slain Sanjit hailed remained closed for the last six days by protestors since the exposure of Sanijt’s killing in fake encounter. As many as 30 people have been wounded in the police action against the protesters during the five day continuous uprising of people that erupted on August 2 last following the fake encounter exposed by Tehelka news magazine. Wounded people are being treated at JN Hospital, Porompat and RIMS hospital, Lamphel. However, some seriously injured are still at hospitals. Doctors attending the injured persons said conditions of two persons who received severe injury at the face and eyes are being kept under close observation.
