Residents of Netaji Railway colony, Dimapur on Sunday, conducted a general public meeting along with members of the Dimapur Municipal council and deliberated on sanitation and various other developmental projects like electricity and approach road for the colony.
K.K Paul, advocate, who chaired the meeting, briefed the Dimapur Municipal Council members on certain important issues such as lack of good roads, proper drainage system and poor electric supply in the colony.
The colony chairman and GB spoke on importance of good roads, proper drainage system and necessity of another transformer in the colony for proper supply of current in the colony.
Dimapur Municipal Council chairperson, Khekaho Assumi, who was the speaker of the meeting, promised the colony residents that municipal council would immediately take up repairing the road by putting sand gravel within 24 hours and allott Rs.1 lakh for constructing five dustbins for the Netaji railway colony. He also urged the colony members to draft a memorandum to the power minister and to the railway authorities for the transformer and for the approach road.
The DMC chief also asked the colony members to elect leaders who would undertake developmental works for the people. He also highlighted the various developmental projects the municipal council had undertaken and urged them to cooperate with the municipal council in future developmental projects.
Nungsang Jamir, Dimapur council member exhorted the residents of the colony to play responsible role in order to bring development in the colony. He also reminded the colony residents of their duties and responsibilities in uplifting the colony.
Residents’ colony elders such as K.K Paul, Y.P Gupta, Pradip Burman and others also spoke during the meeting. The vote of thanks was delivered by Z. Kapfo.
