Security beefed up for Manipur CM

Security at Imphal Raj Bhavan and Chief Minister’s bungalow has been beefed up as protest against fake encounter and demanding resignation of the chief minister o Ibobi spread over the hills areas too. Additional Central Paramilitary Forces including women CRPF personnel and BSF have been deployed at various strategic points to assist the police while controlling people’s agitations. A police officer who did not want to named said that additional police personnel mostly women have been called from other districts of the state to assist Imphal west and east district police. Meanwhile, the curfew was relaxed for seven hour today from 5 am till 12 pm and no untoward incident was reported except staging of sit-in protest at various places. Further, Apunba Lup spearheading people’s agitation is planning another torch rally tomorrow night. After Ukhrul joined the protest against fake encounter by imposing bandh on Friday last, villages on the western side of the Senapati and Moreh town of the Chandel district also joined the protest by carrying out torch rally in their respective villages last night. The effigies of Chief Minister, O Ibobi, DGP, Y Joykumar and police commandos were burned down along with slogans demanding resignation of chief minister on moral ground and punishment to the police commandos involved in the fake encounter.
