Rio to inaugurate hall DIMAPUR: State chief minister, Neiphiu Rio would inaugurate the multipurpose hall- B at I.G. Stadium, Kohima on August 11at 11:30 am. Mass social work at Kubolong DIMAPUR: In view of the forthcoming Independence Day celebration, Kubolong public and government employees of different departments participated in the social work on August 7. DNNRU elects new office bearers DIMAPUR: Dimapur Nkonhjan Nyiro Range Union (DNNRU) held a general meeting on August 8 and elected its new office bearers with L Nyimbomo Ngullie as chairman, and Ekyimsao Kikon as general secretary. Youth resources and sports informs KOHIMA: Directorate of youth resources and sports has informed all its affiliated sports associations to submit their detailed address and contact numbers to assistant director, Neiyalie Angami. The directorate stated that the information was for mutual cooperation for future references. KLA members visit state DIMAPUR: Nine members of the Estimates Committee of the Kerala Legislative Assembly (KLA) paid a visit to Nagaland on August 8 as part of their study tour. They visited all the historically important places in Kohima and on August 10, called on the Kiyanilie Peseyie Speaker, Nagaland Assembly at his office chamber and exchanged views of mutual interest. The Committee praised Naga hospitality and tradition, A press release issued AE Lotha, secretary Nagaland Legislative Assembly secretariat stated that the visiting MLAs included P. Jayarajan, chairman, AM Ariff, M. Chandran, CH Kunhambu, Thirvanchoor Radhakrishnan, N. Rajan, Saju Paul, AK Saseendran and V, Sasikumar and were accompanied by four officials. NCP informs on enrollment KOHIMA: NCP Nagaland state general secretary, S. Azio Kithan has informed all district presidents and individuals to submit their enrollment counterfoils immediately to the state office Kohima. Further, the state unit has welcomed to its party unit Bhunmyu village of 143 households and all groups and individuals of 50 Longleng A/C. It stated that the increase of supporters indicated the active work of S. Pangnyu Phom, parliamentary secretary, RD and REPA. Catholic Church Community Kidima grateful KOHIMA: Catholic Church Community Kidima has expressed gratitude to Kohima Municipal Council (KMC) for providing suitable and convenient place at super market, Kohiam to sell their organic products from vegetable village Kohima. The church members have expressed gratitude to all buyers for their generosity. The sales day held on August 5 where organic products including vegetables, fruits and decorative traditional items were sold. KGSA jubilee editorial board clarifies DIMAPUR: Silver jubilee editorial board of Kuhuboto Ghakhu Sports Association has clarified that under greetings column on page 2 of the association’s magazine, contributed by “kilo kilonser” Azetho Chophy where the super scribed heading of the ‘GPRN’ should be read as Nagaland and not Nagalim. NCPF annual convention DIMAPUR: Nagaland College Principals Forum (NCPF) has convened its annual convention at Patkai Christian College, Chumukedima on August 19 from 10 am. All college principals of constituent colleges under Nagaland University have been requested to attend the conference. The forum also warned that absentees without any valid reason would be fined as per the laid down constitution. All the members have also been asked to submit their agenda to the president prior to the commencement of the conference. PYS informs public KOHIMA: Phesama Youth Society (PYS) reiterated its resolution on the ban of dumping dead bodies of animals and garbage under its jurisdiction. The PYS expressed regret that a dead pig was thrown in a river under its jurisdiction and condemned such behavior from any sources and reminded the public to be aware and to stop such things in the future. The PYS reminded that public not to hunt, deforest, and pluck medicinal plants etc and defaulters violating the order would be dealt accordingly to the society’s course of actions. Campus Icon 09 held DIMAPUR: Campus Icon 09 organized by Team Metamorphosis was held at Hotel Hornbill, Wokha, on August 8. A total of 15 contestants turned up for the 1st audition with all of them clearing the cutoff marks set by the organizers and qualifying for the second round. The 2nd and grand finale will be held on September 12 and October 3 respectively. The list of the contestants include Ethel (1), Nzanthung (02), Lochumi (03), Zuboni (04), Lorenbeni (05), Zareni (06), M Lily (07), Libeni M (08), Renben (09), Orenvungi (10), Meriyani W (11), Chonben (12), Myanthung (13), Lily O (14) and P Lorena (15). Meanwhile, Team Metamorphosis informed that the audition would be telecasted in local channel by next week. IMFL seized DIMAPUR: Excise department personnel, Kohima seized about 264 bottles of IMFL from check gate from July 17 to August 10 and arrested Yanbemo Lotha, Guldip Singh, Mina Dani and Abraham, bus driver (ML-01-1375). In a press release issued by superintendent of excise and prohibition stated that the arrested persons were penalized under Nagaland liquor total prohibition act 1989. Lost and found KOHIMA: Two original mark-sheets- HSLC and HSSLC belonging to Ms. Medongunuo Ngukha has been recovered from PR Hill Junction, Kohima on Monday. The mark-sheets are now in the custody of South Police Station (SPS), Kohima and the rightful owner has been requested to contact SPS, Kohima. Corrigendum DIMAPUR: In regard to the photo caption that appeared on July 31, during Nakyulam Fest cum 2nd state road show, the name of the cultural troupe should read as Yimchuger cultural troupe and not as rendered. Meeting on 4th road show DIMAPUR: A meeting in connection with the 4th Road show coinciding with “Momong festival” of the Sangtam tribe on September 2 and 3 was held at the conference hall of Kiphire DC on August 5, chaired by NSMDC chairman C. Kipili Sangtam. The meeting was attended by all officer-in-charges of various departments in Kiphire. It resolved to take up efforts to make the road show success and work loads were also divided among various departments in Kiphire. The nodal departments for the road show would be NSMDC under the chairmanship of C.Kipili Sangtam and CAWD under parliamentary secretary T. Torechu.
