DYC and AYC held a meeting on August 5 chaired by DYC president L Shillem. The main speakers for the meeting were DCC working president, N Mosha Chang, general secretary (Admn) DCC Pakhiu Khiam and secretary, NPYC who called upon the workers to strictly carry out the message of NREGS and RTI to the rural people.
In the meeting, the members appealed to DRDA and programme officers to adhere to guidelines and law passed while implementing works and also extended full cooperation. Commenting on the recent road show held in Tuensang, DYC said it made serious observation on the way the DAN government was treating the people of Tuensang district.
Terming the donation of Rs. 50 lakh by the government for maintenance of NH 155 as “unfortunate”, DYC pointed out that the people of Tuensang were literally made to do begging by singing a song to government when it was supposed to maintain the NH-155 and look after the welfare of the people.
Tuensang DYC president L. Shillem and general secretary Jungshi Chang stating reports received by various youth workers also alleged that 56 Noklak, 57 Thoknoknyu and 58 Shamator Chessor did not receive relief under natural calamities for the year 2007-08 whereas some other assembly constituencies in the district had already withdrawn their funds.
The party further appealed to the responsible authorities to look into the matter and cautioned that the DYC would not tolerate depriving the poor of their needs. The meeting also resolved to organize a seminar/training in regard to NREGS and RTI in consultation with DCC at the earliest.
