Special Mon District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held on August 7 at the conference hall DC, Mon under the chairmanship of C.L. John DPDB chairman Marcofed. In his address, John extended gratitude to his elected colleagues for reelecting him as chairman and the officers for their cooperation and support.
Briefing on various developmental schemes and projects taken up under BRGF in the previous year, he asked officers to share grievances and give feedbacks to elected members for effective implementations of schemes and projects.
Minister for school educations Nyeiwang Konyak also called upon the officers to be more active and maintain sincerity and transparency while discharging their duties.
While exhorting the house, minister for forest and wildlife, M.C. Konyak urged the officers to contribute their thoughts and visions in implementing various developmental programme in the district and to prepare a prospective plans of DPDB for effective implementation of the government’s programmes.
Asserting the independent nature of government departments he said paralyzing of one department like PWD and power affected not only the general mass but also the functioning of other departments and stressed on coordination and team work of the DPDB members. Chairman DUDA, EE. Pangtiang and chairman, DAN, Aloh Konyak also exhorted the officers.
The board recommended the schemes and projects under LADP 2009-10 and BRGF 2008-09 along with the common pool submitted by the respective elected members of the nine constituencies under Mon district.
According to an official bulletin, the house also discussed on frequent power failure in the district and the recent incident that took place during the ENSF conference at Mon where students damaged the furniture and files of the office of the EE and SDO (power) for total power failure during the conference. Dutta, EE (Power) Mokokchung division who was here in Mon to assist the department highlighted the board on power disruption between Tuli and Naginimora during ENSF conference.
Further, the board view that light post, wire and transformers were not replaced since its installation. In this connection the elected members urged upon the concern officer to report the pathetic condition of the department to the higher authority for necessary action.
The chairman also assured to sanction funds from the DPDB to the power department to meet urgent requirements.
Observing the poor condition of road between Namtola to Mon and frequent blockage of road at Yaling due to excavation of stone by the Mon villagers, EE (PWD) explained how the department has managed to maintain the road in spite of inadequate fund and disclosed that one bridge out of five bridges under Tizit has been taken up by the department for construction.
Meanwhile, DC Mon, Dinesh Kumar IAS has informed the house that human development workshop programme would be held on August 27 at the conference hall of the DC, Mon. All DPDB members have been requested to attend the workshop.
