Pochury Students’ Union Dimapur Dimapur: First general meeting of Pochury Students’ Union Dimapur (PSUD) has been convened on August 16 at 1pm in the Pochury Church campus, Purana Bazar. A release issued by PSUD general secretary Zesangthu requested all members to attend the meeting. Union has also thanked MLA Yitachu for sponsoring the unit to participate in the last Tenyimai sports meet. Royal Club meeting Kohima: A general body meeting of the Royal Club has been convened on August 13 at 5 pm in the residence of its member Khriehu. All members have been asked to attend the meeting. Katharami Union Zunheboto DIMAPUR: An emergency meeting of Katharami Union Zunheboto with regard to its diamond jubilee celebration has been convened on August 14, at 3pm at the residence of its president. All members have been requested to attend the meet. NPF Dimapur welcomes DIMAPUR: NPF Dimapur has welcomed BJP and RJD workers from Dimapur district at a felicitation programme held on August 8. Former president of BJP Meren Imchen and former president of RJD Asito Sema of Dimapur district spoke on behalf of respective party workers and expressed confidence in the leadership of chief minister Neiphiu Rio and NPF president Dr.Shurhozelie Liezietsu. One discharged from Naga Army DIMAPUR: L/Corporal Benjamin, son of Nikheho Sumi of Ajiqami Village, Sumi Region, bearing Naga Army No. AB-12977 has been discharged from active Naga Army Service on medical ground with immediate effect. According to a press communiqué issued by Col. Aheto Chophi, Camp Commander, Designated Camp, (Khehoi), Naga Army, the service rendered by Benjamin towards the nation was “most praiseworthy”, and further wished him the best in his future endeavors. Educated Unemployed Union meet DIMAPUR: Educated Unemployed Union Nagaland (EUUN) has convened an emergency meeting on August 17 at 10:30 am at its office. The meet will discuss agendas relating forthcoming Silver Jubilee and important matters pertaining to the union. EUUN has appealed to all Govt. departments, leaders, contractors and the business community not to entertain any applications served in the name of the union without approval from the union heads from office number 2260875/ 9862148404 and take stern action against any extortionists using the union’s name. The release also asked all unemployed indigenous inhabitants to contact 9856231691/9856346819/9863242545 for membership/registration. Extortionist caught red handed in Kohima KOHIMA: Kohima police acting on a tip off swung into action and caught a habitual extortionist red handed while he was trying to extort money from shops near Mohankhola area on Tuesday afternoon. A team of police personnel from South Police Station Kohima arrested one Adi Zhotso (26) hailing from Jakhama village while he was trying to extort in the guise of underground cadre. A case of extortion has been registered at South PS u/s 384 IPC and investigation was on. According to police, the accused was a habitual offender who was also arrested earlier for the same offence. (Correspondent) PLCC directives on garbage dumping Dimapur: Panchayat Lower Chandmari Colony (PLCC) Kohima has resolved to direct every household to collect their own garbage and dump it in KMC garbage truck and to ensure that drainage and footpath were kept clean. No materials shall be stored on kept on the road that causes obstruction or blockage of roads, all plastic water pipes should be tied so as not to cause obstruction to the general public, stated a press release issued by PLLC chairman Thungbemo Mozhui and secretary John Kath. The release also stated that failure to comply with the resolutions on or before August 18 will be punishable as per resolutions adopted. Thejangu appointed ‘Dy Legal Remembrancer’ DIMAPUR: In partial modification of Notification of the Department of Justice & Law of even dated August 7, 2008 the State Government has promoted Thejangu Kire, Additional Public Prosecutor to the post of Deputy Legal Remembrancer. An official bulletin informed that appointment on promotion was made against the vacancy caused by Ngamjok Konyak, Deputy Legal Remembrancer under the same terms and conditions.
