Awareness on Japanese Encephalitis held in Tuli

Following the outbreak of Japanese Encephalitis in Tuli town, an awareness programme was organized by the district medical department, Mokokchung at Tuli town hall on August 11. A team of doctors led by Medical Superintendent, IMDN, Dr Narola, Distrcit Malarial Officer, Dr Lima, Programme officer, Dr Kika and Medicine Specialist Dr Temsu attended the programme. A release issued by chairman Tuli town council L Lepzuk, informed that the public were informed about Japanese encephalitis and swine flu. The programme was also attended by heads of department, TTC members, ward committee members, church leaders, women leaders and senior citizens of the town. The release also informed that the district veterinary department conducted an awareness camp on zoonotic diseases on August 5 at Tuli town hall. Further, Malaria department, Mokokchung visited Tuli CHC and assured to undertake a second phase of spraying DDT in all the wards. They also distributed two bottle of Deltamatrion to each wards for treatment of mosquito nets in each house hold. Meanwhile the TTC expressed happiness to the medical and veterinary department for initiating various steps to control the outbreak of Japanese encephalitis in the town.
