Responding to the statement made by BRO where it stated that Sidzu Bridge collapsed due to excessive scouring of river bed during flash floods, the Chakhesang Students Union (CSU) has stated that such statement was questionable which was only aimed to fill the vacuum where the work itself showed clear sign of poor foundation and poor workmanship.
CSU in a press release issued by President Mutsivoyi Kotso and general secretary Esther Rhakho stated that using delay tactics in restoration of the bridge and poor maintenance of the road has caused great difficulties for Phek and Kiphire districts in transportation and meeting socio- economic needs of the people.
The Union while expressing resentment to the authorities for not bringing any solution for the improvement of bride has appealed the authority to restore the collapsed bridge at the earliest.
Supporting the statement of Deputy Chairman, State Planning Board Neiba Kronu, CSU further urged the BRO to work for peaceful environment between people and Government.
CSU further stated that failing to respond the demand, it will not remain silent spectator and department in charge will be held responsible for any eventualities in the near future.
