Additional District and Dessions Judge V Nyekha has fixed the next hearing of March 25 Darogapathar gang-rape incident to August 25 as all the three accused were without a defence counsel. While Bonatho Zhimo and Kaghato have been charged with rape, robbery, criminal conspiracy and attempted murder, Temsulemba has been charged under other sections of the law. The court has appointed amicus jury (friend of the court) advocate Y I Singh to represent the three accused under the state expense. The Indian law permits the state to appoint a defence counsel for a person accused of heinous crimes. The Addl. District and Sessions Judge has also asked Dimapur additional public prosecutor Akum to produce the police report with necessary changes since both the main accused (Imtikumzuk Jamir and Hetoi Chishi) were executed including post mortem report, if any. It may be mentioned that another accused Sabo Sangtam is still absconding. (Staff Reporter)
