All Nagaland School Teachers’ Association has said that the government of Nagaland was applying two yardsticks for retirement from public service viz. retirement age of 60 and length of service 35 yrs, whichever was earlier. A release issued by ANSTA stated that as far as age is concerned every employee was self prepared and knows when his time comes to retire but the length will make the senior employees retire unprepared. Further, affected employees would be forced to retire while the new entrants would benefit from new the 6th Central ROP which is now on the table for consideration. The release stated that the government should consider dating back the ROP in such a way that it is inclusive of the length of affected retirees just because the regular interval of decadal revision of pay is also due from the year 2008.Thus, if this assurance is given in advance by the government it will work as a wonder towards implementation of the new policy.
