Vigilance has been intensified, particularly in the border areas of Nagaland for a peaceful Independence-day celebrations here tomorrow. Although no organisation in the state has called for a boycott or strike tomorrow, the authorities have intensified vigil in areas bordering Assam due to a strike called by militant groups in the neighbouring state, official sources said. The main function of the Independence Day will be held at the civil secretariat grounds here where Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will unfurl the national tri-colour and take the guard of honour. Besides other contingents of police, paramilitary forces and NCC, the recently formed Nagaland Adolescent Girls Bag Pipe band, comprising 35 girls, will also form part of the I-Day parade. The government in a circular has asked all heads of departments here to ensure attendance of every employee of their respective departments in tomorrow’s function at the secretariat ground.
