The Zeliangrong Students’ Union Nagaland ZSU (N) has condemned the incident on September 16 where one of its members, a college student of Mount Olive College was assaulted by miscreants. ZSU (N) has appealed law agency to book the culprit at the earliest and award befitting punishment. The students’ body while stating the victim Rangkeilakpe Hegui, a class 11 student was picked up by three miscreants claiming themselves to be underground near Ser’s bazaar while he was returning home at around 2.30 pm on the fateful day. He was taken to IG stadium where he was tortured till mid-night and later dumped back from where he was picked up. Terming the act of miscreants as cowardly and beastly, it stated that such cadres whichever factions they belonged to must have no place in the society particularly at a time when all Nagas were longing for peace. “We talk and raise concerns about the safety of our brothers and sisters studying outside our state, but unfortunately our own brothers and sisters back home are no longer safe”, it stated. It also appealed to the underground brothers to respect human kind and the rights of all individual without an iota of tribalism.
