Despite several representations submitted to government by Phek Government College Students Union (PGCSU) on non-reverting of transferred post of education lecturer from Phek Government College (PGC) to Dimapur Government College (DGC) the Phek Students Union (PSU) has expressed discontentment over the department for turning a deaf ear to the demands of PGCSU.
Phek Students’ Union (PSU) president Kuveduyi S. Venuh and general secretary, Kuzhovesa Soho lamented that instead of treating PGC on humanitarian ground, the department was trying to sabotage students careers. PSU alleged that the department considered PGC as inferior to DGC, posing a threat of dangerous environment.
Expressing shock over the recent comment of commissioner and secretary of higher education, PSU termed it as “discrimination” and questioned the department as to why a lecturer with post was transferred from PGC to DGC despite DGC having 7 lecturers when only 3 lecturers were left at PGC. PGC asserted that the post was “taken away” leaving the PGC paralyzed and students careers being ruined despite functioning with much difficulty and hardship covering both general and honour courses including classes 11 and 12.
PSU further stated that the post was purely meant for PGC in its initial appointment and it could never allow to be taken away and that immediate reversion should be initiated to avoid confrontation.
