Pfutsero block refutes allegation by DCC Phek

Reacting to the news item issued by DCC Phek on mismanagement of NREGS funds that appeared on September 19 issue in a local daily, VDB union, Pfutsero block, Zhipa and Reku colonies of Pfutsero town stated that “ever realistic NREGS” was neither for Congress, NPF, BJP, RJD, LJP nor other political parties but for the landless, poor and unemployed mass in every rural villages. A press note issued by VDB union, Pfutsero block President Zupelo Wetsa, and secretary Rhokho Zholia members of Zhipa and Reku colonies, Pfutsero town asked the Congress party workers to refrain from issuing derogatory allegations which would cause more harm than “saving their bacon”. The press note stated that no community works could be undertaken without the prior approval of the village general public or without the authorization of the elected representatives of the people and has to be fulfilled within the specified time bound. That, no single contract works had ever been allotted to neither NPF nor Congress party nor its workers, only in charge of work supervisors were being nominated on advice/consent of representative village Council/VDBs. It also stated that normally audit and its report of every income, expenditure of any village was compulsory tabled during every village annual general meeting but was never obligatory to present either to Congress, NPF or any other Political Party unless authorized by village general public. Further, the press note said neither job cards nor NREGA funds could be mis-used as every village Council and VDBs had separate ledgers, job attendance register besides mater rolls of the department. Stating that most of the information available for public notice were disseminated through village councils and VDBs and not through any political party excepting few government agencies, VDB union, Pfutsero block, Zhipa and Reku colonies of Pfutsero town stated that “dis-information” as alleged by DCC Phek did not arise.
