Naga groups reaffirm reconciliation goal

Naga political groups, FNR and NGOs at the Chiangmai VI Naga reconciliation meet, in Thailand.

Signatories of the “Covenant of Reconciliation” who are meeting at Chiangmai, Thailand from September 22 to 25 have once again strongly reaffirmed and recommitted to relentlessly pursue “the Naga Reconciliation; A journey of common hope.” Reaffirming this at the Chiangmai VI, the signatories resolved to facilitate the meeting of a Summit at the highest level, at the earliest, in affirmation of the “covenant of reconciliation.” The signatories who included Gen (Retd) V S Atem, NSCN (I-M), Zhopra Vero, FGN and Wangtin Naga, GPRN/NSCN, all members of the joint working group in the declaration said, “We reaffirm our total commitment to work together in the spirit of love, non-violence, peace and respect to resolve outstanding issues amongst us.” They made a pledge to cease all forms of offensive activities in toto. Leaders of the three Naga political groups also pledged to render every co-operation in order to bring about the Summit, at the earliest. The Naga reconciliation process is being spearheaded by the Forum for Naga Reconciliation.
