Hotel vandalized by mob

A mob that included some relatives of a girl reported missing, assaulted the manager and staff and also vandalized the hotel(Hotel Maple) at Hongkong Market Thursday at around 9.30 a.m.after she was found in one of the rooms. It may be recalled, that the girl reported to be in a disturbed frame of mind, went missing on Tuesday as reported in sections of the local press. The girl’s relatives including others went in search of her and when asked if she had checked in, the hotel staff replied in the negative.It was reported that the girl had checked in under an assumed name. Later, on finding the girl in one room, the group became angry and assaulted the manager and staff besides vandalizing the hotel. The seriously injured manager and staff were rushed to a local hospital and kept under ICU. Later, police sources disclosed that two persons were arrested in connection with the case and that further investigation was on. Meanwhile, the Hoteliers and Restaurant Association of Dimapur condemned the incident and fervently appealed to the district administration to punish the culprits. The association in press release issued by its president Vito informed that all the furniture along with other electronic items were destroyed by the mob. The release also informed that the girl had reportedly checked in under an assumed name and for which the hotel management denied that a person by the name given by the group, had checked in.
