Not only natural beauty and eco-tourism, but healing tourism can be a very good potential area where the state can develop tourism in the sate, said Parliamentary Secretary Yitachu while addressing the World Tourism Day organized jointly by the Tourism department and Nagaland Tourism Association and hosted by Hotel Japfu here today.
“We need to exploit cultural, eco and healing tourism”, said Yitachu and said that there are lots of avenues in these areas where the state can bank on attracting tourist. Natural beauty and satisfaction to the eye alone is not sufficient, he said and stressed the need to tap on food and other hospitality such as good place to sleep in promoting tourism, he said.
Claiming that Hornbill festival had slowly become an international event, he revealed that this year Hornbill festival will witness participation of the Korean, Japan and also Myanmar. Many tourist visits Nagaland with a pre-notion that the state is a disturbed state but return back fond memories, he said. Further saying that there are several reports where villagers were trying conserving forest and wild lives, he said that this could be an area where the state tourism department can promote eco-tourism and stressed that the Tourism department and also the Nagaland Tourism Association should visit all these places.
On the occasion, the Parliamentary Secretary in-charge of Tourism Yitachu also gave away the prizes of the Photography competition 2008.
