Reacting to the opposition from various quarters including the Joint Working Group of the Naga reconciliation, to the recent formation of the Naga Common Platform and allegations that the same was an attempt to intrude or sabotage the Naga reconciliation and unity process, Rio reiterated that the Platform was neither set up by the state Government nor the NPF party. He pointed out that the Naga Common Platform was constituted by various NGOs, Churches organization and apex tribal hohos through the resolution adopted during the Naga Consultative Meet held earlier this year. He expressed hope that the various organizations involved during the constitution of the Platform would handle it. Stating that the efforts of state government towards the Naga political issue were genuine and sincere, the chief minister reminded that the entire state cabinet delegation had meet the central leadership and officially submitted a memorandum containing the stand of the state government on the Naga issue. He also reminded about the Legislators meeting on Naga political issue held earlier this month. “We are here not to interfere,” Rio assured and reiterated not to interfere anywhere if their (government) service was not required. The chief minister however, said it was ready to extend any help and act as good facilitator if required.
