Commemorating the fifth anniversary of the Dimapur twin blasts, concerned citizens of Dimapur Friday paid tributes to those killed in twin blasts that ripped through Dimapur Railway Station and Hong Kong Market on October 2, 2004 killing 26 persons and injuring over 100. Speaking on the occasion, Dimapur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Maongwati Aier condemned the incident and mourned the victims of terror strike. Asserting that nothing could be achieved through violence, the DC called upon everybody to condemn all kinds of violence. He also urged people to remain vigilant from all kinds of “unscrupulous elements” who might attempt to disturb the prevailing peace. Aier also advocated that everybody should come together and jointly work for peace. Additional Superintendent of Police V Z Angami and ACP RPF K V Angami also echoed the same and condemned all kinds of violence. They further appealed to the people to be vigilant and inform the police if they come across any thing suspicious in town. Brief prayer meetings were held in both the places, where people from all faith attended the function. (Staff Reporter)
