: Travelling is not always fun in a big car. It’s hard to maneuver on narrow and bumpy Indian roads with unwanted and frequent interruptions hitting Chevrolet Cruze your way regularly, while you cruise. But it seems better, if you cruise in a Cruze, the new car from Behemoth American carmaker, General Motors. It does make a difference. The car, better known for its 2.0 litre VCDi engine, comes with 150 bhp that American cars were not know for at least in the Indian market. While its immediate competition — Honda Civic, Volkswagen Jetta and Skoda Octavia — has successfully taken the highway with ease in the past, Cruze also proved to be a great performer. Cruze hits 60kmph from zero in 6 seconds flat. The Chevrolet Cruze is expected to be priced in the Rs 12-14-lakh bracket. While the looks may not be a killer unlike the Honda Civic, but the style cues are smart. The car fuel is efficient even at low speeds and should take 10 km for a litre of diesel though it frequently needs immediate shift to lower gears at slower city speeds. Cruze is far more refined than its European counterparts on performance, but there is slight discomfort on the cramped space inside the cabin. Three passengers have to virtually squeeze in to the rear seat. Cruze will available in blue, red, white, grey and silver colours and a tag of Rs 12 lakh for the diesel variant could be a nice bargain in the long-term only if General Motors avoids any more bankruptcy problems in future.
