The state police which is investigating into the sensational NPSC answer script swapping scam had filed charge sheets against the 13 accused involved. The charge sheet was filed against the 13 accused including two NPSC staff and 11 NPSC candidates on September 30 last. According to a source, the 13 accused were charge sheeted under various sections of IPC & CrPC on account of various charges. Earlier, the Naga Students’ Federation had given the state police deadline upto September 23 to complete the process of investigation. The state police officials however requested the NSF to bear with it for few more days stating that the charge sheets were ready but needed to fine tune and get final approval from DGP. It may be mentioned that the NPSC had earlier detected anomalies in the answer scripts of 11 candidates of the NPSC Main Exam held earlier. Subsequently, the commission had nullified the answer scripts and also debarred them for a certain period of time from appearing any examination conducted by it. Moreover, the NPSC had nailed the two staff found responsible for the anomalies and suspended them. The incident had rocked the commission once again with hue and cry from various section of the society. The NSF spearheaded the move against the commission by demanding cleansing up of the premier recruiting institution of the state once and for all. It also demanded the state government to hand over the case to the CBI for a thorough probe into the NPSC. The state government however refused to budge to the pressure of the students’ body and entrusted the case to the state police for probe.
