Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president would be meeting Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh, UPA chairperson, Sonia Gandhi and other central leaders to discuss the matter and work out mechanism so that fund reached the people. The Congress would also submit separate lists of affected farmers by the drought to the centre. NPCC in a press statement said drought affected people were too apprehensive that Rs. 74 crore if sanctioned for as drought relief would again be siphoned off by people who are in power. Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee president K.V Pusa on drought relief said even top party officials, including him was quite skeptical and apprehensive about funds since past records had shown how the state government had grossly misused the natural calamity funds. He however said party would see that funds were not misused by the DAN government and that money reaches all the deserved people.
Addressing the party functionaries of Dimapur district on Monday K V Pusa, president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee completely ruled out hiccups in the party, but asserted that Congress was a party based on a democratic principles, which accommodated views and opinion of party men and women. Pusa said when Congress in Nagaland had several seasoned and veteran politicians with different backgrounds there was “no dirt of leaders” in Congress party.
Members of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also told party functionaries that defection of four of their legislators few months back does not reflect the Congress’ image in Nagaland, nor prove disunity and rift in the party.
Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committeechief said defection of four MLAs to NPF was with the sole objective of greed and power and that their claim of disunity in the Congress was a mere excuse.
Former minister and now vice president of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, Nillo Rengma and former minister, Khutovi Sumi, ex- MLA and member Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, Supongmeren Ao, former MLA Yangkithung Lotha and member of Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee also spoke at the party meeting.
