3 arrested in Dimapur

Two cases-one pertaining to forced prostitution and the other human trafficking-were registered with East PS Dimapur Tuesday. Briefing media persons at East police station, Additional SP V Z Angami informed that the 12 year old girl, rescued by passersby on September 24, was actually a victim of forced prostitution by her cousin, identified as Amentoli (22). The victim (name withled) a student of class II, was forced into the flesh trade since last year. Police said the victim, an orphan, was reported as missing by her step-father on the same day she was rescued. Meanwhile in another case, one young girl escaped from a brothel in Mumbai after she was lured with a promise of work in big showrooms in Mumbai. The 17-year old victim (name withheld ) formerly a student of a prestigious school in Dimapur , along with two other friends were promised jobs by a couple identified as Ochimenla (24) of Merangkong village and her husband Sanjeeb Dutta, resident of Sunrise Colony (Piggery Farm), Burma Camp. Their accomplice identified as Jamaluddin was still absconding. The girls, all under 18 were taken to Mumbai somewhere around April,2008. On arrival at Mumbai, the victim was gang raped by five persons and after which, she was blindfolded the sold off to a brothel. Police quoting the victim, said she escaped from the brothel after being forced into the flesh trade for six months. She then met an Assamese lady and narrated her tale after which she was helped to go to Delhi. In Delhi, she met her cousin studying there and was provided help for the return journey home.
