GPRN/NSCN has demanded immediate and unconditional release of its member, “Sgt. Major” Nyeshi, whom it alleged was abducted by the NSCN (I-M) on October 2 at Tuensang town. It said that the arrested cadre was still untraced The MIP, GPRN/NSCN through a statement described the incident as a “grim reminder of the volatile intent within NSCN (I-M) organization” and pointed out that the “irresponsible action” came right after the latest Chiang Mai declaration. Stating that resorting to offensive duties at the present moment was nothing but a “brazen violation” of the Naga people’s will to seek a common goal, the GPRN/NSCN identified the cessation of hostilities as a prerequisite to any reconciliation process and that no party could claim to be a supporter of unity and reconciliation if it directed its military to begin offensive activities. The GPRN/NSCN acknowledged that significant progress had been made recently and said it believed only anti-national mindset would derail the momentum. “All parties must walk the talk,” it added.
