DNP+launches Living Hope Support Net SHG

Dimapur Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS (DNP+) in its endeavor to fight against HIV and AIDS, reduce stigma and discrimination against PLHIV and improve their socio-economic status on October 3 formally launched Living Hope Support Net, a Self Help Group (SHG) formed by DNP+. While launching the support net, chief guest Savi Legiese, president, Naga Council, Dimapur said everyone was equal in the eye of God who gave hope and nothing was impossible before Him. He also encouraged and lauded the positive network for initiating the concept of support net (SHG) for PLHIV to address and look after welfare and well being of PLHIV members and added “Even if you are positive, the network have done a great job”. Chief guest also donated Rs. 2000 towards Living Hope Support Net. District Program Officer, DAPCU, Dimapur, Asangla in her short speech expressed happiness over the initiative of DNP+ to make a difference for the well being and welfare of the positive community and sought the support and assistance of the government. Highlighting the focus of Living hope support net (SHG), Darshim explained that association was formed to mobilize livelihood support system within the network and develop self reliance and sense of dignity among the members. By forming the support net (SHG), the network aimed at economic empowerment and self-sustenance of PLHIV and an attempt to reduce stigma and discrimination against PLHIV. Further any PLHIV and a member of DNP+ could be enrolled as a member in this group where total number of members for each group will be 12. The members of the group would elect president, secretary and treasurer and each member will save Rs. 100 per month and additionally Rs. 5 as a subscription fee which will be deposited in a separate joint saving bank account with support from district level Network.
