Caller arrested

Meghalaya Police investigating recent threatening calls made on former deputy chief minister Deborah Marak arrested the accused on Saturday besides stumbling on to a massive racket involving over one hundred SIM cards of a particular cell phone company which were registered under fictitious names. Police said the accused, who was not identified, had called Deborah several times and threatened to kidnap her children if she did not pay Rs.20 lakh. The accused had identified himself as a member of a terrorist outfit in Guwahati when he called Deborah on the cell phone from 97745-57944.
