Farmers training held at Ghathashi

A farmers’ training under Season Long Training Programme (SLTP)-IPM was held in one of the Farmer’ Field School (FFS) at Ghathashi, under Pughoboto sub-division. The training was conducted by SDAO Pughoboto, Hewoto Sema, also an IPM master trainer, along with a team of Field staff. The main highlights of the programme included Ballot Box Test to observe the basic knowledge of the farmers on agriculture activities, agro-eco system analysis in paddy, methods of pest control in IPM, bio-magnificent of pesticides, application of rodenticides, identification of pest and defenders in the field, and distribution of IPM kits, training materials and rodenticides. During interaction hour, Ghathashi village council chairman, Hekiye Chishi on behalf of the participants, expressed gratitude to the officer and department for organizing the valuable programme concerning awareness on human health and environment. He also said that the training programme was a first of its kind organized by the department in the area after the establishment of Agri sub-division at Pughoboto, for which they extended appreciation to the SDAO Pughoboto for implementing the programme in practical, despite the inconveniences owing to damaged road condition and isolated location.
