Villages clarify on rape and murder

In response to a news item published in a local press and Assam local daily about the alleged murder and rape of Rinika Jigdung (14), at a brick field in Dimapur on August 25, the village elders of Toluvi and Bamunipukhri-I Monday clarified that upon inspection of the body, in the presence of parents and women members, they found the clothing intact and no sign of “bodily violation.” Toluvi village and Bamunipukhri-I village head GBs and VC chairpersons claimed that elders of both the village on hearing about the “unnatural death” of Rinika visited the place of the incident and found the body on the bed. They also stated that on enquiry the deceased father informed them that the girl was found unconscious outside their quarter with bruises and cut mark on her face, hand and head. The village elders further stated that the girl was declared brought dead as she was rushed to Zion hospital. Meanwhile, Mech Kachari Students Union has condemned the alleged “brutal rape and murder” of Rinika.
