Ralan rape case

In a major break through, police has found out the identity of the main accused who was reportedly involved in the gang rape and murdered of a 30-year-old woman at New Ralan area on August 21. According to police sources, the main accused, a bamboo labour, has been identified as Rokit Ali aged around 20 son of Amar Ali from Hojai, Assam. The identity was obtained from an ID card with “GPRN/NSCN” seal was recovered from his residence at 4th mile, Dimapur. Rookit Ali is absconding. Sources also said that all the six accused who have been shifted to Kohima owing to security reason has now been brought to Central Jail, Dimapur. It may be recalled that, a 30-year-old woman identified as Roshila Humtsoe of New Ralan, was allegedly gang raped and murdered by some Muslim labourers August 21. The dead body of the victim, who was married to one non local (Raju), was discovered without clothes in a jungle near New Ralan, Old Ralan and Chandalasung village junction on August 22. In connection with the case, a non-local bamboo contractor identified as Sumonto Das (50) was lynched to death August 23 at Ralan, Wokha district, by an irate mob.
