Senior BSNL official mugged

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) of BSNL was mugged on Tuesday night around 6.45 pm near the road leading to Bank colony by three unknown miscreants. Ironically this was the second time the AGM (GMTD), G Datta Treya Babu (54), posted here since the last nine months from Andhra Pradesh, was mugged and assaulted by unknown miscreants. The victim was found lying alone and was taken to Zion hospital by some passers by. According to the victim, the three miscreants took away his mobile phone, purse, file and some books and later assaulted him. He disclosed out that it was the second time he was assaulted by unknown persons however he also clarified that the miscreants were not the same in both the occasions. Meanwhile, the Chief General Manager (CGM) who was also present at the hospital stated that they were agitated but expressed hope that the police would do the needful in arresting the culprits. He also informed the police had assured every help although no formal complaint was lodged at the police station. He pointed out that such kind of incidents was making it very difficult to work in Nagaland and that they are threatened by unknown persons every now and then. “People would not get good service if such incident keeps occurring every now and then” he added. The CGM also expressed gratitude to Zion hospital for admitting of the victim and taking care of him. Another AGM also revealed that issue of extortion notes followed by threats form various quarters was making the staff go into hiding especially in the interior districts.
