Kipili exhorts 2nd day of Kiphire road show

Cultural programme and musical night marked the second day programme of Kiphire Road Show- cum -Mongmong festival held at local ground, Kiphire on Thursday. The programme was graced by MLA & Chairman NSMDC, C. Kipili Sangtam as chief guest. Kipili called upon the people to cooperate with state government to bring real development in the state. He said reconciliation was needed for both the self and community as state government’s policy was to bring all Nagas under one umbrella for peace and development. He encouraged youngsters and women that government had established Music Task Force for youth empowerment and women’s share had also been earmarked, with 25% from VDB fund allocation to all villages for women development. Kipili also emphasised about objectives of organizing Road Show and Mongmong festival that aimed at preserving significance of the unique culture and heritage of different communities. State Road Show cum Mongmong festival award certificate was also given to Yangkimong, Head GB, Kiphire town. Meanwhile, Music Task Force Nagaland organised a Musical Night during on September 2 at local ground, Kiphire. Searching for young talents in music in Sangtam area, judges selected three participants each from solo and band categories according to their performance on stage. In the solo category, out of 20 participants, Lumlise bagged the first prize, while Arenla and Khumchoba bagged the 2nd & 3rd prizes respectively. The winners were awarded Rs. 5,000/-, Rs. 3,000/- and Rs. 2,000/- respectively. In the band category, out of 9 bands, Strive Band bagged the first prize while X-Planet Band bagged the second prize. The winners were awarded a cash prize of Rs. 7,000 and Rs. 5,000 respectively. In the individual category the best lead guitarist was bagged by Tsarikyu, while the best bassist and the best drummer were bagged by Thripong Chum and Hinato, both from System Band and the best vocalist was bagged by P. Yangtsumong from Strive Band. All the winners were awarded Rs. 2,000/- each. The other highlights of the musical night included a fashion show presented by Kiphire Youngsters Club and presentation of special number by Naga Idol finalist from Kiphire. MLA & Chairman, NSMDC, C. Kipili Sangtam who was the chief guest of the night gave away the prizes along with certificates. The programme was attended by Deputy Commissioner, Kiphire; SP, Kiphire, senior government officials, NGOs and a large number public.
