Acting on specific tip off about movement of stolen vehicles coming towards Mokokchung from Assam, Mokokchung police on August 28 led by SDPO Wabang intercepted two vehicles (Hyundai Getz) at a place around Longnak area under Mokokchung district and apprehended two persons driving the vehicles. The two persons were identified as Tsuktimenba of Molungkimong village and Bendangtemsu of Asangma village both under Mokokchung district.
They were found changing the number plates of the vehicles and were later arrested and brought to Mokokchung police Station. Upon interrogation, it was disclosed that drivers were employed by one Inato Assumi of New Shena village. Consequently with the help of Dimapur police, Inato Assumi was arrested on August 29 and was brought to Mokokchung on Thursday. Upon further interrogation, it was found out that Inato Assumi and his team were running a racket involving stolen vehicles since November last year. It was also revealed that some accomplice involved in the racket were still absconding for which police were on the look out to arrest. A case has been registered with no. 0029/09/U/S 379/34 IPC.
