Swine flu awareness in Tuensang

In view of the ongoing threat of swine flu cases in the neighboring states, a two day training on sensitization of M.O, nurses & pharmacist on swine flu was conducted in Tuensang District on September 1 and 2 with Dr. Thanghoi Lam (Dy. CMO), Dr. Moa (DTO) and Alem Phom (DMO) as resource persons. Health workers from different blocks attended the training. Resource persons imparted training on H1N1 flu preparedness. Village health committees were asked to gear-up and medical personals to tackle and handle the situation if any cases arose. Health workers were directed to sensitize people in their respective blocks and villages. Other topics also included T.B, malaria programme and sensitization on consumption of iodized salt, and how the district should go about in order to create awareness among the people. M.O’s and Nurses of the different health centres were asked to conduct schools health check up and nutrition days in the villages and improve routine immunization, and special attention to be given for measles vaccine coverage in view of the recent measles outbreak in some part of the district. Further, sensitization of Communitized Chairman, Secretary and members was conducted in order to give them a better understanding of the health set up and community mobilization and how to utilize the proposed funds. Village chairmen were informed to spread awareness and preparedness on swine flu in their respective villages.
