The first conference of Nagaland judicial officers was held Saturday with chief secretary Lalthara as chief guest at Zonal Council Hall, Kohima. The conference was attended by judicial officers from Kohima and other districts.
Lauding the officers for organizing the conference, Lalthara said such conference was a good platform for judicial officers to interact and deliberate on how the court could deliver better justice. He said constructive cooperation and understanding between the court and government was necessary to serve public interest.
Speeches were also delivered by L.K. Achumi, District and Session judge, Dimapur; Mayanglima, Nagaland Judicial Officers Association; Khesheli Chishi, registrar, Gauhati High Court, Kohima Bench; and C.J. Ponraj, principal secretary, Law; while the programme was chaired by secretary Law, K.N. Chishi.
The inaugural session was followed by discussion session on legal and establishment matters such as review of criminal/ civil cases, government cases pending in different courts/bails, judicial and investigation agencies-interface, customary court and court interface, matters on revenue collection by different courts etc.
