The “Kilo” ministry of the NSCN (I-M) has taken serious note of the “racket” of money lending business being carried out by charging exorbitant interest rate thereby creating social disharmony and unwarranted burden to the needy and disturbing peace and tranquility in the society. According to a statement issued by the secretary, “Kilo Affairs,” such kind of illegal and arbitrary practices by the money lenders taking undue advantage of the poor borrowers has been causing great damage to the society. It observed that the properties of the poor borrowers were falling into the hands of the rich money lenders as loans could not be repaid owing to high interest rate being charged. The ministry said that the matter has come under serious scrutiny of the government as part of its efforts to eradicate anti-social elements in Naga society. In this connection, the ministry of “Kilo Affairs” has informed all individuals, societies, groups etc that anyone found indulging in such activities would be dealt with appropriate action as the government deemed fit. It also solicited the co-operation of the public.
