Former MP Lok Sabha Wangyuh Konyak has expressed concern on the law and order situation in Mon district.
Konyak citing the September 17 incident where five police personnel attacked the NPF Mon divisional unit general secretary K. Chingkei Konyak also the Mon town Chen Area Students’ Union president said the incident clearly showed that the law and order situation in Mon was “completely nil” and there was no semblance of having a popular government in the state.
Wangyuh said that according to a statement of Chingkei Konyak, the police personnel after beating the student leader took away Rs. 75,000 in cash and Rs. 54,000 in cheque, which belonged to the NPF party.
The former MP while condemning the incident urged the state government to immediately constitute an inquiry committee and terminate the responsible police personnel before the public take the law into their hands.
