Varsity teachers to protest

To register their protest against the University Grants Commission’s (UGC) regulations on service conditions of teachers, all Central University teachers, under the banner of Federation of Central Universities Teachers’ Associations (FEDCUTA) would wear black badges on September 23 followed by a demonstration the next day. Asserting that new regulations were against the interest of professors, associate professors and assistant professors, the CEC NUTA president Rosemary Dzuvichu and secretary general N Venuh, in a release, said NUTA would also join FEDCUTA’s demonstration. While Delhi based central university teachers would demonstrate at UGC office, demanding immediate consultation with the Federation on the proposed regulation, NUTA would also wear black badges Sept 23, and observe sit in protest Sept 24 in three campuses of Kohima, Medziphema and Lumami, the NUTA said.
