The ‘publicity secretary’ of ceasefire faction of the proscribed NDFB, S Sanjarang, was on Wednesday fired at by suspected members of the anti-talks group of the same outfit in Assam’s Udalguri district. According to a UNI report, police informed that Sanjarang was on way to Udaluguri town from the designated camp when unidentified gunmen on motorbike opened fire on the NDFB leader, with two bullets hitting him. He has been referred to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital here. Police suspect the anti-talks faction of the NDFB to be behind the attack and have launched a massive operation to nab the gunmen. The proscribed National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) split into two factions following disagreement among its cadres regarding holding dialogue with the government. While one faction is in ceasefire, the other, led by Ranjan Daimary, has been continuing to unleash violence on the state.
