Foundation stone laid for GPS Kohima

A foundation stone for construction of GPS building at High School area Kohima was laid on October 17 by Kelhouletuo Chielie Angami, president Nagaland Government Registered Class-I Contractors Union. The programme was organized by the Ward Education Committee, High School Area (Ward-1, Kma) Speaking at the programme, chief guest K.C. Angami said that the foundation stone was laid to demonstrate openness and willingness to ensure transparency and accountability to all citizens. He expressed hope that the project for construction of GPS would be successful. Angami asserted that the infrastructure of the project was important as it would be an institute to provide education towards capacity building amongst the children. He also expressed happiness that the department and the citizens of High School area had timely taken up the scheme as much development had shifted to the area. WEC chairman Vilhourie Mor highlighted on the importance and benefits of SSA under which the EGS, High School area was upgraded to GPS earlier on May 25. He apprised that the SSA targets for free and compulsory education for every child between the age group of 6-14 years. He added that the participation of public was very important as per the Communitization of Public Institution and Services Act, 2002. Kohima DEO Zaveyi Nyiekha chaired the programme, while women representative and secretary WEC Abaü Jünyü delivered the vote of thanks. The programme was also attended by panchayat chairman and members, GBs, Colony Welfare Board members, project assistants and ADC of the DEO Kohima and legal advisor NGRC-ICU Kezhokhoto Savi.
