Picketing by Nagaland University Teachers’ Association(NUTA) and Nagaland University Non-Teaching Staff Association on the office of the Nagaland University was suspended Wednesday after a joint meeting of the two bodies. The office picketing which began on Tuesday was in protest against the “illegal fixed deposits of university development funds by VC Prof. K. Kannan.” NUTA Kohima and NUNTSA Kohima have also written to the Governor, who is also the chief rector of the Nagaland University, to direct the Vice Chancellor to reach the office and settle the ongoing issue of transfer accounts from one Bank to another, by October 23. NUTA Kohima president, G. T. Thong and NUNTSA Kohima president, Medo Chirhah in the letter said that the VC, instead of settling the issue, has left station and was out till date. The two associations said it has taken serious view of the whole episode.
