Global IDD prevention day observed in Phek

: Along with the rest of the world, Iodine Deficiency Disorders Day (IDD) prevention day was observed in Phek town in different schools organized by Health & Family Welfare Department (NIDCP). At Holy Care School (5th NAP) Phek and Christian Home school, Phek along with teaching staffs and around 300 students each was led by Chief Medical Officer Phek while at Royal Foundation School Phek was led by Dr. Azo Louis MD District Hospital Phek with teaching staff and around 500 students participated in this programme. CMO & MD District Hospital, Phek emphasized on Iodine sources, its side effect of Iodine deficiency, storage of Iodine and importance of iodine use in our daily life, salt testing of iodine salt, common salt and homemade salt was also demonstrated. Iodized salt is being strongly emphasized for consumption at the programme. Organizing department also distributed some pamphlets and display banners and posters for schools premises.
