3G service launched in Kohima

After its formal launch in Dimapur, BSNL 3G or 3rd Generation was launched here in Kohima on Friday. The 3G mobile technology is empowered with facilities such as video calling, broadband connectivity, mobile TV, video conferencing, online gaming and faster video or track downloads. Interacting during the Kohima chapter of 3G inauguration held at Hotel Japfü, BSNL General Manager (marketing) Arjun Singh stated that the 3G had large range of new experiences which would cater to the needs of the people. He stated that BSNL was working towards providing latest tools and technology to its customers. Mentioning the problems faced in connectivity General Manager (ETR), Sanwal, urged that the people be made aware of the hurdles created in cutting off cable while constructing roads. General Manager, Nagaland, Ramesh T.B. apprised that there were around 150 BSNL towers in all eleven districts of the state, with around 48 towers set up with GSM 3G facility in Kohima and Dimapur. It plans to set more in Mokokchung and also other districts. He further stated that some problems faced were due to power shortage, landslide problems. General Manager (Mobile) Saurab Gupta and Rajeev Sharma, parner, M.Solo Enterprise (BSNL Franchisee) also shared during the programme. Nagaland is the first to have the BSNL 3G amongst the two BSNL North East circles, besides Assam circle. Along with it, BSNL has also provided 3G enabled Blackberry services. 3G facility is marked by its fast and easy service, and provides a wider range of more advanced services while achieving greater network capacity through improved spectral efficiency.
