5 killed, 12 injured in Assam road mishaps

Five persons were killed and 12 others seriously injured in road mishaps in Assam today, police said here. Three persons were killed on the spot and four others seriously injured when a truck and an auto rickshaw collided head-on at Patharkandi in Karimganj district. The injured have been admitted to Silchar Medical College Hospital. In another mishap a child was knocked down by a speeding vehicle and died on the spot at Naumaligarh in Golaghat district. Yet another person was killed and another critically injured when two trucks collided head-on at Boithamari in Bongaigaon district. Five people were injured in another mishap when two cars collided head-on at Khelmati under Rangapara police station in Sonitpur district. Two youths were seriously injured when their motorbike was hit by a truck at Rangiya Chowk on NH 31 in Kamrup(Rural) district.
