The Meghalaya government has imposed restriction on entry into the main Secretariat following the recent gate-crash by the anti-uranium protestors. In an official communique issued here today, the State Home Department said that only government employees be allowed to enter the main Secretariat building through its side doors. The public entering the Secretariat through the main entrance would have to identify themselves and obtain permission at the reception counter, the statement said. Last week, fifty-odd anti-uranium protesters, under the banner of Coordination Committee of Social Organisation (CCSO), stormed the main secretariat building demanding revocation of pre-developmental projects in the proposed Uranium mining areas. The protestors pinned black badges to Revenue Minister Prestone Tynsong, legislators and government officials to mark their protest against the government’s decision.
