The NSCN (IM) “Naga Army, Colonel” Levi Zimik commenting on the circumstances leading to the shoot out at Laungma (Balathan) village, NC Hills on October 28 said the situation was inevitable, given the constant provocations intimidated by ZLR Region ‘K’ cadres within the vicinity of its base. PRO in a statement also mentioned of the nexus between ZLR Region ‘K’ and Assam Rifles (AR) posted there in resorting to despicable acts of befriending each other and frequently raiding our base.
The statement also said the Army personnel have in the general interest and context of the process of reconciliation, evaded direct encounter in many occasions. After enduring all the provocative stances the Army even went to the extent of informing Zeme Council about the situation, “but K cadres turned deaf ears to the pleading of public leaders for diffusing the stance.
