A three day programme on Peace Capacity Building Training organized by Nagaland Baptist Churches Council peace department got underway at Youth Oasis Centre, Eralibill Dimapur on Thursday. Director NBCC Peace Committee, L. Kari Longchar stated that training would deliberate on how the church could contribute in bringing peace among Nagas. He said that objective of the training programme was to promote peace in Nagaland by bringing together church workers including young academicians, teachers and students from theological as well as church-run colleges.
Later speaking to media persons, Longchar stated that everyone including public, government officials, public leaders and the church should be involved in working together towards bringing peace to the land by coming together in prayer. “NBCC aims to equip the participants on the sensitivity of the issue” he said.
Zeme Church Dimapur pastor, Visor H. Zeliang gave the keynote address at the first session of the training programme by taking excerpts from the Bible. He asserted that if Nagas worked together towards achieving peace with faith and belief then God would answer their prayers.
Secretary of Communications & Relations, National Council of Churches in India (NCCI) Mar Atsongchanger also attended the inaugural session and delivered the welcome address. Atsongchanger in his speech stressed on achieving peace by improving inter-community relationships. He also further stated that NBCC was part of NCCI through the CBCNEI and NCCI with its seven commissions would extend every possible assistance towards the body.
More than 30 delegates representing various churches affiliated to NBCC attended the session. CNBC general secretary, VK Nuh, Kethoser Kevichusa, Leban Serto, K Toshinaro Longchar, Hekani Jakhalu, Kolezo Chase, Nyamto Wangsha, and Niketu Iralu will be the resource persons for the entire training programme.
